Recycling of e-scrap (WEEE)

Kovohutě Příbram takes part in the systems of withdrawal and separated collection in the role of a processor and offers producers, importers and companies processing, use and disposal of their used products.

These used products mean certain material potential for Kovohutě Příbram and the company has therefore decided, within the framework of diversification of its activities, to extend existing ecologic service to the public, i.e. recycling of lead wastes and waste materials with the content of precious metals, by offering processing used electric and electronic devices.

For several years, Kovohutě Příbram has been dealing with the purchase and processing of sorted out components of WEEE with the content of precious metals and the company has rich experience with the ecologic recycling of whole electric devices, which are withdrawn from a number of natural persons and legal entities nowadays.

Long-standing tradition and experience in processing of WEEE led, in 2004, to the decision to introduce a technological line for industrial processing of waste materials from electric and electronic devices with the capacity of up to 10,500 tons/year (at three-shift operation and the capacity of 2 tons/hour). This all with minimal manufacturing costs due to the industrial character of the technology.

Collection point in company area

From January 1, 2019, 10 groups of electrical and electronic equipment became 6 and Kovohutě are collecting electrical equipment from all these 6 groups and then processing with the exception of group 1:

1. Heat exchange equipment
2. Screens, monitors, and devices containing screens larger than 100 cm
3. Light sources – these wastes Kovohutě recycles in their subsidiary RECYCLACE EKOVUK, a.s.
4. Large appliances with any external dimension exceeding 50 cm except for devices belonging to groups 1, 2 and 3, including, but not limited to: household appliances, information technology and telecommunication equipment, consumer electronics, lamps, sound or image reproduction equipment, musical equipment, electric and electronic tools, toys, leisure and sports equipment, medical devices, monitoring and control devices, dispensers, equipment for the production of electric current
5. Small appliances of which no external dimension is more than 50 cm apart from devices belonging to groups 1, 2, 3 and 6, including, but not limited to: household appliances, consumer electronics, lighting fixtures, sound or image reproduction equipment, musical equipment, electrical and electronic tools, toys, leisure and sports equipment, medical devices, monitoring and control apparatus, dispensers, equipment for the production of electric current
6. Small IT equipment and telecommunication equipment whose external dimension does not exceed 50 cm
