Electrical devices accepted

From January 1, 2019, 10 groups of electrical and electronic equipment became 6 and Kovohutě are collecting electrical equipment from all these 6 groups and then processing with the exception of group 1:

Heat exchange equipment
Screens, monitors, and devices containing screens larger than 100 cm
Light sources – these wastes Kovohutě recycles in their subsidiary RECYCLACE EKOVUK, a.s.
Large appliances with any external dimension exceeding 50 cm except for devices belonging to groups 1, 2 and 3, including, but not limited to: household appliances, information technology and telecommunication equipment, consumer electronics, lamps, sound or image reproduction equipment, musical equipment, electric and electronic tools, toys, leisure and sports equipment, medical devices, monitoring and control devices, dispensers, equipment for the production of electric current
Small appliances of which no external dimension is more than 50 cm apart from devices belonging to groups 1, 2, 3 and 6, including, but not limited to: household appliances, consumer electronics, lighting fixtures, sound or image reproduction equipment, musical equipment, electrical and electronic tools, toys, leisure and sports equipment, medical devices, monitoring and control apparatus, dispensers, equipment for the production of electric current
Small IT equipment and telecommunication equipment whose external dimension does not exceed 50 cm

Purchase of separated components from the previously detailed electrical devices; ensuring their material reuse

Legislation
After the entry of the Czech Republic to the EU, a number of European directives and standards have been transposed into our legislative system. These directives and standards permanently affect the activities of many business subjects.

One of them is also European directive No. 2002/96/ES on waste electric and electronic devices (hereinafter as WEEE), which is a part of a law amendment and whose basis lies in the transfer of responsibility for products during their whole life cycle, including the obligation to provide for the recycling of such products, to their producers and importers.

The new legislation also enables producers and importers to select the way of fulfilment of this obligation on the basis of an individual solidary or collective system.

The amendment of the act on waste materials does not impose responsibility only on producers and importers but also on natural persons and legal entities entitled for business activities (end users). These are obliged by the new legislation to finance the recycling of used electric devices (marketed prior 13 August 2005) in defined cases * at their own expenses.

* The obligation applies to end users only in cases when electric devices used by them were marketed prior 13 August 2005 and, simultaneously, used electric devices are not replaced by products of the same type and quantity or by products which have the same function.
